MURDER IN THE FRONT ROW
CASE STUDY

OBJECTIVE

“It's not just a film about heavy metal. It's about people. It's hard music with a warm, fuzzy beating heart."

Filmmaker Adam Dubin set out to chronicle the ‘80s Bay Area thrash scene in Murder in the Front Row -- an uncensored and boisterous documentary released in 2019. The Syndicate’s mission centered around gaining attention and acclaim for the movie.

The film is a must-watch for hard rock fans, containing over fifty interviews with various metal stalwarts (including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament and Death Angel), telling its tall tales through a mix of first-person interviews, animation and narration by comedian Brian Posehn.

IMPACT

“I brought my heavy metal documentary film “Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story” to The Syndicate for PR. They blew up the movie as if it were a band! Articles appeared in Rolling Stone, Billboard and Kerrang! magazines. We had a huge internet presence and most importantly, The Syndicate reached the heavy metal fans. The result was sold out screenings in almost every case. Most sold out in days, sometimes in hours. Just like a new rock band that’s breaking big! I’ve had a great time working with The Syndicate! They’re a very enthusiastic and talented agency. Rock on!“ - Adam Dubin, Director
